Happy New Year to you all
All of us at Executive Flyers wish you and yours a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
Winter Weather
Several of us were on the flight line on January 1 tying down the aircraft as the winds gusted to 50 mph. The rain hurts when it hits your face at 50 mph. The good news is that none of the planes was damaged. In anticipation of further strong winds this winter we all need to make sure that we do a good post flight of the aircraft by locking the controls, chocking the tires and putting the wing and tail tiedown chains on as tightly as possible. During the winter only you should also set the hand brake before you leave the aircraft. We don’t do this in the summer because the heat can blow the seals in the brake cylinders, but in the winter it will help to keep the planes from moving in the strong winds.
On Line Scheduling
If you haven’t already done so, point your browser to https://login.flightschedulepro.com/SelfService/UserSignupStep2.aspx?code=11887&id=11887 in order to sign up for on line scheduling. Once you have signed up for the program, I have to validate your name (give me 12 hours or so) and then you’ll be able to log on at https://login.flightschedulepro.com/login.aspx?code=11887&id=11887 from then on. You will probably want to bookmark the login page, as you’ll be using it whenever you schedule. Make sure that you sign up even if you don't plan to use on-line scheduling. Once we start using the scheduling program, calling the office will be a slow way to schedule. You will probably have to hold for some time as it takes longer for the office staff to schedule on the system than it did with the paper system. It will be much easier for you to use the scheduling program if you read the information files and the help files and look at all the different selections that you have available across the top of the screen. If you have questions on the program, please do NOT call the office. Email Ed for help at callaway@execflyers.com instead. Be patient and we’ll make it work and you’ll find that you like it.
Be a Pilot
There is a national program called Be a Pilot that encourages people to take an introductory airplane ride and learn to fly. If you know someone who has expressed an interest in flying, please have him call our office to sign up for an introductory flight ($59 in a two seat aircraft, $74 in a four seat aircraft). As a pilot, you know the advantages and fun of flying so don’t hesitate to promote it. If someone joins the club and lists your name as his or her reference to Executive Flyers, we’ll put $60 on your account to thank you for your effort.
G-1000 ground school
Three of the five required hours of ground school for the C182 with the Garmin G-1000 navigation system will be taught on Saturday, January 21st from 9:00 am to 12 noon in the conference room at Executive Airport. Call the office to sign up for the class.
