N4796V sale

I made a mistake in the asking price of N4796V in the last newsletter. The owner is asking $85,000 for it, not $75,000. This is a great plane for first retractable pilots. It is a 172 with a larger engine, constant speed propeller and retractable gear. We would like to keep it on line. If several people are interested in it and wished to buy it as a group, I have some information, that would help you with agreements, etc. Call or email Ed for more information.

NORCAL in August

All the approach control operators in Northern California will eventually be housed in a new, state of the art building at Mather Field. On August 28, Sacramento approach control will officially begin operating in the new facility. The Facility Manager of the NORCAL project was in my crew when I flew in a seaplane off the coast of Vietnam in 1965! Small world.

N55521 is for sale

Many of you remember N55521 from its years on line at Executive Flyers. The owner has painted the plane and fixed the interior and would like to sell it. We would love to have it back on the flight line. It is a 1982 172P, TTAF 8331, SMOH 1193, IFR, DME, ADF, 4 place intercom and quartz clock. (If you do not know what the alphabet soup means, email Ed for clarification.) You can see the plane in spot H-17 in the shade hangars. The owner, Walter Murray, is asking $64,500 for the plane. He can be reached during the day at (916) 785-9340 or in the evening at (916) 771-0516. If two or more of you might be interested in forming a group, please call or email Ed.

Office Hours

Deena has to spend some time driving to Sacramento Sky Ranch to replenish the office inventory, go to the bank and do other things during each day. To accomplish this, we are going to officially close the office from 12:30 to 2:00 each weekday. If you are flying during those hours, we will leave the keys in the lock box for you.

Refueling before flight

We are not able to refuel the planes after each flight since some pilots need less than full fuel. If you can't use the pumps or need the plane refueled in a hurry, please call the fuel truck.

Safety First

With all the technological advances that have been made in airplanes, the safety of the flight still depends on the pilot's skill and common sense. If you fly into mountainous areas with no previous experience or training, it does not matter how accurate the GPS is that shows you exactly where you crashed. Your plane may be a 2002 model, but if your crosswind technique is not up to the wind at your destination, the plane may not see 2003. Please do not exceed your abilities or try to make the plane do something that it was never designed to do. Do not hesitate to get a refresher flight or a mountain checkout. Sit down with an instructor for an hour and review different techniques. Money that you spend on improving your skills and knowledge may save your life.
