N585AM C182 Fuel Rebate
For the months of August, September and October of this year, the owner of N585AM will be giving a fuel rebate of $200 for every 10 hours you fly in that month in the Cessna 182. Once you have flown the time, get a rebate form at the office, fill it out and give it to Ed. He'll forward it to the owner who will write you a check for $200. The form must be completed within 30 days of finishing the 10 hours. This current offer is only good until the end of October 2006. Save some money and fly the G1000 system at the same time. Contact the office or email Ed about the checkout procedure in the 182.
C172 G1000 coming in September
We'll be adding a new G1000 C172 to the fleet in early September. If you are checked out in the G1000 182, you'll be checked out in the 172! We'll have an open house on October 7 to celebrate our second glass panel aircraft. Details on the open house will be in the September newsletter.
Engine changes
The rebuilt engine will be back in N5101E within a week, if all goes as planned. Watch the on line schedule to see when it's back. The twin, N2882C will be out until the about the end of the month for an engine overhaul and other maintenance. The Arrow, N3060M will be out for engine overhaul until about the middle of September. I will see about the availability of a retractable from one of the other schools so that if you are working on your commercial license, you'll be able to finish. I'll put a note out to all the pilots registered on the on line scheduling program when I find out about that. It was just coincidental that all the engines came due at the same time. Not an engine virus or anything sinister.
Partner wanted on tail wheel aircraft
One of our members has expressed an interest in putting a tail dragger on line. He would like to get a partner in the plane. This would be a non-acrobatic plane that would be used for training and rental. Landing a tail dragger is demanding and teaches you the proper technique for landing any aircraft. They are fun to fly and let you know what the early pilots felt like. Call the office or email Ed if you might be interested.
Mountain Wave Flying Seminar
The F.A.A. will hold a mountain wave flying seminar in the conference room at Executive Airport on Wednesday, August 16th at 7:00 pm. For further information and to sign up, go to http://www.faasafety.gov/SPANS/event_details.aspx?eid=11438 .
Unusual attitude course
A pilot contacted me earlier in the month about giving an unusual attitude course to pilots who want to see what flying other than straight and level is like. I decided not to do it through the school, but if you are interested, his home page is http://www.acroflights.com/.
His name is Patrick Carter and he will be at the Auburn air show this Saturday, August 12th. I don't know him other than phone and email contact, but said that I would put this information in the newsletter.
