Congratulations to:

On Line Scheduling
Starting in November, we will integrate on-line scheduling into our program. I am in the process of picking a program and will try to get one on which it will be easy to sign up, and easy to schedule. I would also like to have one with features such as medical and BFR reminders. We will continue to use the paper sign up form in parallel with the on line forms for the month of November to ensure that all is going smoothly before we cut over to the internet scheduling only in December. To prepare for the sign-up, I would appreciate it if you would call or email us and confirm the dates that your BFR is due and your medical is due. Also let me know in which aircraft you have been checked out (filled out a checkout sheet) so that we can compare our records with yours. The scheduling will take some getting used to, so be patient while we are starting up.
182 Checkout and more
If you have been considering checking out in the new glass panel 182, but have not because of the cost, we have some good news for you. For a limited time, the required five hours of ground school will cost $177 and will include the G1000 manual and a C182T POH, which have a retail value of $177. You pay for the manuals and get the instruction free. The required four hours of flight instruction will be billed at the rate of the airplane, no charge for the instruction. In addition to the checkout in the airplane, the training will meet the requirements of a flight review, high performance checkout, and an IPC. In lieu of the flight review, the ground training and flight time could be used to complete a stage of the Wings program. Ground school starts Thursday, Oct 13 from 6 pm to 9 pm. Call the office to sign up.
Lost and Found
We have quite a collection of items that have been left in the planes in our lost and found drawer. “Talking” pedometers, charts, kneeboards, pilot’s guides, lens caps, etc. etc. Please stop by the office in October if you are missing something that could have been left in the planes. We’ll pitch the rest in November.
Headset Rental, etc.
We will be renting headsets to use in the planes for $5.00 per headset per day. The cost of replacing and repairing headsets has risen to the point that this is necessary. If you use a headset regularly, it would probably be a good investment to purchase one. We have them ranging from about $100 on up. If you plan on flying professionally, it would be a good idea to buy one of the more expensive brands since, in headsets even more than other purchases, you get what you pay for.
The cost for instruction has increased slightly as the instructors pay has not been increased since 1999, and the cost of living…
Mountain flying course
AOPA has an interactive mountain flying course on their web site. You do not have to be an AOPA member to use it. Go to http://www.aopa.org/safetycenter to start. If you sign up with your email address and name, the course will be part of a WINGs program.
